Hayes' and Norris' Barbershops

Just next to J.J. McWilliams & Son, a barbershop, carved out of an irregularly-shaped space, operated for many years. The shop was first owned by a Mr. Hayes in the late 1940s through the 1960s, and in later years (late 1960s-1990s, roughly) Mr. Burell Norris owned it.

Below Jimmy and Fredia Tatum remember Mr. Hayes' shop.

In 2010, Mr. Norris donated his shop to "Revive Frisco City," a non-profit civic group interested in restoring buildings and recruiting businesses for the downtown area. Revive Frisco City is currently renovating the building, which will be used either as a "reading room" or a main office for the group.

Below are photos from November 2010, after several layers of flooring were removed. Roof repairs are currently underway.
